Updates for the 2026 season

The 2026 season is only a few weeks away, and we have some great changes for the new year.

Longer season

This year we will operate March through November. Check out the calendar for exact dates, but it will be longer than the past few years. There are plenty of good weather days in March and November, so we want to jump if we can.

Sunset Thursdays

We will open late on Thursdays for most of the summer to try and allow more people to come out after work, and get more sunset loads, which we all love. The early mornings do offer good weather before things get wonky, but opening at 3pm can allow us to skip the mid day dust devils and storms, and enjoy the often gorgeous weather in the evenings.

Improved field work

I will be trying some different options to make the landing areas smoother. More rodent repellent. More grass seed. More dragging and flattening. And probably add some sand or gravel areas.

Seeking DZ artists for murals

I am looking for some artists to create large artwork on the exterior of the hangar and buildings. Please contact me if you are interested.

Free monthly weather and packing discussions

I will be holding classes once a month after jumping to teach about weather and packing. There will be a Skydiving Weather class, and a How to Pack Better class.

Skydiving Weather will cover basic general skydiving weather safety, as well as specific detailed weather specific to Skydive Utah. There is no weather info taught during your license training, but it is very important for skydiving. All jumpers can benefit from understanding the weather better.

How to Pack Better will not be a beginner packing class, but instead a way to improve your pack jobs focusing on bulk distribution, and tips to keep things clean for people who already know how to pack a parachute. This can give you better openings, and make your rig more secure. Sloppy, bulky packing can make your flaps or bridle come out prematurely in the airplane or freefall.

This is just a quick update to get this whole blog things started. Check back as I will be adding more posts over the next few weeks. You can also comment! The goal is to make this a better version of some of the things we would post in the Facebook Licensed Jumper group.
